1. Poinsettia Community Park

tennis ball and courtPoinsettia Community Park is the best destination in Carlsbad for tennis lovers as this 42 acre park contains the largest public tennis complex in the city! There are 10 lighted tennis courts available for public use, which are open from 8 AM to 10 PM daily. You can lounge on the beach all afternoon and then enjoy a challenging tennis match in the evening. Other recreational facilities at Poinsettia Community Park include pickleball courts, baseball fields, a lighted basketball court, and a playground with separate areas for kids ages 2-5 and 5-12.

2. Magee Park

Magee Park is a charming 2.1 acre park that is a popular wedding spot due to its close proximity to the ocean. While visiting this park, take a stroll through the scenic rose garden to discover over 125 different roses that represent 15 different rose families. The development of these rose beds earned Carlsbad the honor of being named an “American Rose City” in 2002 by the American Rose Society! Magee Park is also home to the L. John Simons Twin Inns Gazebo, as well as several historic buildings including the Magee House, Heritage Hall, and Granary. Tours of these buildings are available through the Carlsbad Historical Society.

3. Alga Norte Community Park

The impressive aquatic center features swimming pools, a warm water spa for adults, diving boards, a splash pad for children, and a fitness room. If you packed a skateboard for your vacation, you won’t want to miss the lighted skate park that is perfect for both beginner and experienced skateboarders! Be sure to bring the kids along for the fun too as there is a universally accessible playground with shade structures over the play equipment.

4. Aviara Community Park

The Aviara Community Park features some gorgeous panoramic views and is one of the best places to watch the sunset! This park is especially popular with families since there is a large children’s play area for all ages. Aviara Community Park was one of the first parks in Carlsbad CA to offer synthetic turf fields, so you will often see soccer games and other sporting events taking place. There are 5 covered and lighted picnic areas available, as well as outdoor basketball courts and a lighted baseball field with natural turf.
